"We are thrilled to have such a rich theatre experience available for our daughter.”

“(Our child) grew in confidence and it was amazing to see what they could pull off after just two weeks.”

“The ACT (of CT) summer camp was amazing and one of the best camps I’ve attended.”

ACT of CT strongly believes that young performers’ theatre training should be broad enough to offer an introduction to different methods, techniques, and theatre disciplines, but also focused significantly on refining individual performance.

ACT of CT’s goal is to offer a variety of programs, masterclasses and performance opportunities for students of all ages, covering a wide range of topics and exposing students to a diverse group of instructors and teaching styles.

A performer is never “done” learning — even Broadway professionals still regularly take masterclasses with new instructors and study with private vocal and acting instructors — and the ACT of CT team hopes that our students are able to take advantage of the wide array of professional teaching artists who we are able to make available.

Although our specific educational offerings each semester and each season are subject to change, our general intended framework is below.

Please note that we are monitoring the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and are uncertain at this time which, if any, in-person programs we may be able to offer during the 2020-2021 school year and summer of 2021.  Please add your name to the Education Mailing List for updates and visit our Virtual Lessons page if you are interested in individual instruction at this time.

The ACT of CT Teen Conservatory aims to offer year-round theatrical programming for middle and high school students. Conservatory offerings have included:

Fall: An interdisciplinary Mainstage Lab Program which includes workshops with teaching artists involved with ACT’ of CT's fall mainstage production and special access to the rehearsal and performance process.

Spring: Weekly acting, movement or musical theatre classes.

Summer: A multi-week Mainstage Musical Theatre Intensive culminating in a fully-staged mainstage production.

ACT of CT offers Virtual Lessons (beginner to advanced) in Vocal Technique, Acting, Piano and more! Students are assigned an instructor based on their specific goals and will meet on Zoom. Students have the ability to bring in their own repertoire or work with the instructor on repertoire of their choosing.

ACT of CT offers occasional, specialized Masterclasses for kids and adults throughout the year, as space and instructor availability allow.

The ACT of CT Youth Choir (2nd-7th grade) provides young singers the opportunity to learn proper and healthy singing technique, vocal music reading, and the art of singing in harmony, all while exploring choral repertoire of the highest quality, including folk and art music from around the world, as well as musical theatre repertoire.

ACT of CT’s Summer Performance Camp offers students entering 2nd-5th grade a multi-week opportunity to rehearse and perform a fully staged production on the ACT stage.
